About the trust
Shree Digambara Jaina Teertha Kshetra Committee
A Committee was formed and registered as Shree Digambara Jaina Teertha Kshetra Samithi on 25/11/1950. Established in the year 1950, the Shree Digambara Jaina Teertha Kshetra Committee has been a cornerstone in the preservation and promotion of Jain heritage in Venur. With over seven decades of tireless service, the committee stands as a beacon of devotion and dedication to the Jain community.
Under their guardianship, the Bahubali statue and the Jain Basadi have not just been conserved as historical landmarks but have flourished as vibrant centers of pilgrimage and spiritual learning.
The trust is registered under section 12a of income tax act of India and currently the committee is headed by Dr. Padmaprasad Ajila who is the managing trustee.
About Venur
Venur is a small village on the banks of the Phalguni river in Belthangady Taluk, Dakshina Kannada of Karnataka, India. It was once the seat of Jainism and the capital of the Ajila Dynasty. It is on the Dharmasthala-Moodabidri-Karkala route on the coastal religious circuit in the Karnataka State of India.
Venur Bahubali
Thimmanna Ajila (IV) hailing from the prestigious Ajila lineage of Venur, most reputed royal heritages of Tulunadu, enshrined the monolithic statue of Bhagavan Bahubali Swami in 1604 AD.
The 35 feet high statue of Sri Bahubali on the banks of Palguni river in Venur village in the lush green nature of coastal Karnataka is mesmerizing.
